Out With the Old and In With the New

1.
  • As we left the time of the Renaissance science's advanced greater things came into our world.
  • In science studies the advancement was followed by things developing in way that would better the would such as food surplus', arts, and city-states.
  • If it wasn't for the advancements mad in the time of the Renaissance we wouldn't be making the advancement we do today let alone be in the world we are in today.

2. From The Church Explains to Learn, Question, Curiosity, Observe, Sci Method is something that without the development and curiosity that people had the questions never would have been answered let alone asked. This allowed people to discover when to plant food so it will grow better and there will be more. The more science questions asked and answered developing things sucks as how the earth was made and the alignment of planets and pushed the religion back behind science. Enlightenment stepped up and told how things works instead of religion doing that.

3.During the age of Enlightenment science gave perspective to many things that people were unsure of and looked to religion to find out. Science showed the true answer and people began to look there more often. This had religion taking a step back from the clock work answers of the universe. many people still believe that the answers religion gave were right but science had more proof than religion so it was harder for religion to get the information they needed. The science advancement allowed everything else to advance such as land routes, exploration, food surplus, art and music, and much more.

4. Voltaire. Voltaire believed that god created earth like a clock worker creates a clock. Once its created he lets it run on its own. He wrote an immense amount of books about Christianity. Many people did not fallow this and why he fought against religious intolerance.

5.Moving was something that made an impact on the person I am today because if i weren't to have moved I could be a different person based on the people i grew up with. When i moved here I had a blank slate to most people and could have started anyway I wished. Coming to Vermont is what made me the way I am today. If I didn't move and had grown up in a different environment I could have been a different person.

King Duncan

I think that king Duncan was a good King because he knew how to give orders so people would fallow and he has compassion for his people. In Act one scene two he speaks with an injured captain who has been injured. The captain tells him his story and the King believes that the captain is a worthy gentleman. When the captain is done speaking Duncan orders his men to find surgeons who can help him. Later in that scene he tell Ross to tell Macbeth he has become the Thane of Cawdor. King Duncan shows he thinks of the people of Scotland when he makes decisions such a making Macbeth the thane of Cawdor. The previous Thane of Cawdor was one who was a trader so King Duncan thought it would be best for someone better to step in and he chose Macbeth.

Machiavelli would say that Macbeth is a good leader because he knows how to get what he wants and he is able to maintain his place in power.  "I'm not interested in preserving the status quo; I want to overthrow it." When Macbeth kills king Duncan it is supposed to be Malcolm but he runs to England and Macbeth takes over in his place. Macbeth certainly did change around the status quo when he became King instead of Malcolm. "The new ruler must determine all the injuries that he will need to inflict. He must inflict them once and for all. " This is another quote from Machiavelli that describes how Macbeth rules Scotland in a way that is beneficial to himself. When Macbeth first becomes king he begins to worry that he will be removed from his place as king and Banquo's son will  take the place of him and the Weird Sister predicted. Macbeth wanted nothing of the sort to happen so he sent out some murderers to kill Banquo and his son.

Macbeth & Machiavelli

Appearance vs. Reality: To Machiavelli appearance and reality is more based on being someone that everyone wants you to be. In one of his quotes he mentions that it isn't important for a rule to have good quality's but it is important that he seems to have them. Machiavelli's take on this is when ruling it doesn't matter if you appear to be something else to the fallows it is reality. In Macbeth it is not just the leader that a showing a different appearance. Macbeth is now plotting to kill Kind Duncan but he is proving to the king, in his battles, that Macbeth is still loyal to him. I feel that appearance vs. reality in this play is not as big as a role as other topics. The main appearance vs. reality parts are when those who are loyal to another decide to betray the one who he is loyal to.

Gender Roles: In Macbeth the gander role are more traditional, the men are those who go out to fight and do the laboring job while the woman stay home. This is mostly true for the beginning though, as the play go on the roles begin to change. Lady Macbeth is the person who plots to kill King Duncan which is not something that would be expected from a woman back then. Back then the one who would be most likely to be plotting the murder of someone else would be the man but this time it is Macbeth's wife. Shakespeare really changed the roles in this play.

Loyalty and Honor: Throughout the beginning of Macbeth the characters a all very Loyal to King Duncan and don't have problems fallowing his orders. This is important because if someone were to go against him while they are in a war the other side may be able to take this to their advantage and win the war. Machiavelli mentions this a couple of times as its will be safer to be feared than to be loved because when you are feared then your followers are less likely to go against you when you need them. Loyalty is also important because when a fallower is loyal to his leader the leader is able to trust the fallower with his most important tasks. Whats bad about this is if the fallower decideds to turn on his leader it can turn out very bad for the leader.

Machiavelli

Niccoló Machiavelli was a political philosopher from the 15th century. Before that he was a Second Chancellor of the Republic of Florence where he traveled in many areas across Italy and even France. In 1512 he was wrongfully exiled, he was suspected of conspiring against the Medici. He is know best for writing the book "The prince" which was written in 1513/1514. It as the first of his writings and he wrote it return to his position  in the Florence government.

"Tardiness often robs us opportunity, and the dispatch of our forces" I believe that this quote is relevant to leaders today because there will not be a change in society where tardiness is not important. When a leader misses an opportunity to do anything that can benefit them or their people because he was late will only be regretful in the future because that sane opportunity may not come again. For example if a leader is not there to send his troops out for a chance to win than it will take much longer for them to win over the other side if they ever win.

"A prince never lacks a legitimate reason to break his promise" This is a bad advise for a leader today to fallow because when a leader breaks his promise to the people who fallow many not be very fond of of the choice the leader made and they then turn against them. If a politition were to promise those who he represents to decrease taxes for those in middle class and did not fallow through with it many would be upset with what he chose to do. When he then told them why he did what he did they may not want to trust him as much.

"Before all else, be armed" I feel like this quote would have best helped the Incas fight Pizarro better. The Incas still may not have won the battle but they still could have been prepaired for when Pizarro came. If the Incas were armed they could have fought off some of the conquestadors when they came and the outcome could have been very different. Because the Incas were not prepaired for Pizarro to come this quote would have beneted the Incas a lot.

"A prince never lacks a legitimate reason to break his promise"
